Garden photos and more.

Has anyone heard of or know anything about a bush called a Himalayan Thornberry?
A friend of mine was given some seeds, told how to sprout them, grow them etc,,,,but we don't know anymore than that, except the berries are suppose to be extremely healthy.

I have been trying to 'google' them, but can't find a thing other than tons of link dealing with politics and the cartoon of Thornberrys.

Would really appreciate any help at all on this.

Thanks in advance and HAPPY gardening!

I'm not real sure. I found out yesterday, my friend can get the name of the plant (bush),,,,,thankfully, I guess "thornberry" is just what she called them, because they grow in the Himalayans. All I know (after yesterday) is they get about 3-4 tall when they are about 2 yrs old and pretty bushy, over all they it sounded like they get about 5 feet tall or so. They are extremely thorny, but the berries are some of the most nutritious there are. That is about all I know,,,which isn't much.
The leaves so far on the little seedlings (about 2 inches high now) are a fairly dark green leaf with tiny white specs on them. I'll see if I can get a photo taken of mine in this next or so and post here.
Thank you very much.

Hi Connie,

Your inquiry intrigued me so I did some digging too. The bush could be a goji berry bush. Another common name is himalayan wolfberry. (Lycium barbarum) From the little I've read the goji berries are considered to be extremely beneficial for ones health. One thing I found interesting was this little tidbit:
"Goji berries turn black if you touch them with your hands. In order to harvest these berries, the farmers shake the bush vigorously so that the plump things fall down on a mat spread under the bush. Later, they dry them under the shade."

BTW, I couldn't find anything under Himalayan Thornberry either and started searching for Himalayan thorn bushes or some such. I'm not sure if you have this one or another but I thought I'd mention it . :)
Good luck! I hope you find the answer.

Hello everyone! Thought I would jump in right quick and let you all know I found out this bush I have is called a "Hippophae salicifolia (Willow-leaved Sea-buckthorn)". The seeds that were given to my friend are actually from the Himalayas too! Right now our little bushes are growing more and more everyday. They are almost 6 inches tall now :)

Thank you everyone for trying to help me. I havent taken any pics of them yet, but at least now we know what they are.

Blessings N Happy Gardening!

I have to admit, the only way I've found to accomplish any worthwhile endeavor is to take massive action but to continue to do so consistently. I understand the natural tendency to CYA, doing something before opening my mouth but I've recognized in…
