The Farmers Almanac prediction for the eastern mid-west called for warmer than normal and wetter than normal and I think that pretty well hit the nail on the head. We've had only a few snow times and max accumulations for any one was less than 5 inches. We've had sporadic low temps in the single digits, some in the teens, and quite a lot in the 20s or above. We've had a lot of rainfall and fortunately, always in the warm temp period. I can think of only a few icy mornings although a light snow seems to create havoc for the drivers around here and there's always a rash of accidents on the slightly snowy AM commutes - according to the media anyway as I don't participate in those.
So all in all - winter weather hasn't been too hateful here in southwestern Ohio.
Other than the parking lot glaciers - we're pretty much snow free, but the ground is sopping wet - water oozes out from under your shoes when you walk across the yard. I did get a couple small trees transplanted this week end though. My Daphne x transatlantica is all budded up and looks like it made it through the winter - one of my major concerns from plants stuck in the ground late last summer.

Oh Dennis we did get it,that was the day before we got home, couldn't get into the driveway and had to portage the suitcases in....my BIL was nice enough to clear the driveway 3 times before that for us, but the last time the timing didn't work out....
we have very little snow left where it was piled the rest is all gone....rain during the night and this morning is finishing up the rest it seems..
We've had record snowfall this year in Wisconsin. I am SO ready for spring! Apparently Mother Nature is not yet...more snow tomorrow. :-( I usually have a perennial plant sale first week of June. I think we'll be lucky to see all the snow melted by then. Just kidding...but it has seemed like an endless winter. I do have some tulips and surprise lilies peeking their heads out of the beds located right next to the west side of my house and hellebores waking up on the east side.

Hi there Roxann! This Badger fan is ready for spring as well. We received another foot of snow yesterday after all of the melting we'd had the previous week. I did have some crocus poking through the ground but they were next to the house and now they're buried again. Spring can't come soon enough, that's for sure. I'm growing tired of old man winter.
